Foreword

Dear Colleagues,
Six years passed since the 7th IFSSH Congress held in Vancouver, where the Hungarian Society for Surgery of the Hand was given the right to organise the 9th IFSSH Congress in Budapest. Time was running fast and after the years of preparation, and with the experiences of the Istanbul 8th IFSSH Congress we arrived to these days when we can welcome hand surgeons of 59 countries from the five continents to Budapest.
At the Budapest Congress in 47 Free papers Session 463 presentations, in 10 Panel 67 presentations, in 7 Instructional Course 47 presentations, 16 Lectures of the day, and finally 4 Special Lectures were presented.
The material of oral and poster presentations is available for the readers in this book, representing a wide variety of topics of modern hand surgery. Unfortunately, many colleagues did not send or only too late forwarded their material so they could not contribute to the value of this book. Shortness of time also deprived the readers from a lot of splendid works.
No doubt, this excellent collection of scientific presentations will give a valuable insight into the Congress also for those who were unable to attend it, while for the lecturers will be an ever-precious relic of the Budapest 9th IFSSH Congress.
