FOREWORD

Dear Colleagues,
On the behalf of the Organising Committee I have the great honor to welcome you to Konya, to attend together the 40th congress of the European Society for Surgical Research, which is being held from Wednesday 25th to Saturday 28th May 2005. The Congress venue is S. Demirel Congress Center in Alaattin Keykubad campus of Selcuk University.
The aim of our society is to inform our colleagues of the scientific developments and advances in medicine. Within this context, free papers and poster presentations, symposiums, keynote lectures and workshops are being organized during the congress.
A scientific program that is covering all specific branches of surgery has been prepared. The congress is expected to be a very important opportunity to ensure information exchange among the scientific circles and to create a high quality scientific discussion environment. A good number of 355 high quality abstracts were submitted. Along with the 21 free paper sessions and 21 poster sessions, nine keynote lectures and four symposiums have enriched the scientific programme.
We are striving to ensure a congress organization that is not-to-be forgotten with its rich and quality scientific contents focusing upon the latest experimental, basic and clinical research in the broad field of surgery.
