FOREWORD
In the last decade, few fields in Gynaecology have
experienced as tremendous an increase in knowledge and techniques as
endoscopy. The « technologic boom » and the gained in the meantime
endoscopic experience and knowledge have expanded drammatically the
indications of laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, which consist an
inseparable part of training and daily clinical practice of the today’s
Gynecologist.
The European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE) in close
collaboration with the two national endoscopic societies organised its
14th Annual Congress in Athens, October 6-8, 2005. In line with the
previous annual meetings, the scientific programme covered topics on
contemporary developments in various disciplines of gynaecological and
endoscopic topics. Special attention was drawn to new developments in
office endoscopy, which along with other aspects of minimally invasive
surgery were developed.
The present book of proceedings summarizes the 14th ESGE Annual Congress
in Athens and represents a unique source of knowledge for the
Gynecologist as well as for the expert.
I am sure that this writing will meet its goals and help physicians
update their knowledge and offer more effective and safer treatment to
patients.
