GREETINGS
Japanese Society of Psychosomatic
Obstetrics and Gynecology (JSPOG) was formally inaugurated in 1996,
succeeding a study group for Obstetric and Gynecologic Psychosomatic
Medicine in Japan which begin it’s activity in as early as 1970’s and
some of which members used to participate regularly in World Congress of
International Society of Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISPOG).
JSPOG has grown up rapidly since inauguration to have 640 (2007) members
from such various specialties as psychiatry, psychology, nursing and
midwifery, health education etc. At present, over 200 of JSPOG members
have joined to ISPOG. We believe that we are well prepared to cooperate
with friends overseas and desire earnestly to exchange knowledges and
opinions on female psychosomatics between the East and West.
Kyoto was the capital of Japan for
over 1000 years, from her establishment as Heian-kyo in 794, until the
transfer of government to Tokyo in 1868 following the Imperial
Restoration. Surrounded by magnificent hills, Kyoto with her poetry
reflects the changing of the seasons and has provided, over the last
twelve centuries, a natural cradle for the art and culture of Japan, and
a noble heritage for her people. This is why Kyoto is known as the
spiritual home of the Japanese people; it is said that without knowing
Kyoto, it is impossible to understand the real Japan. But, on the other
hand, Kyoto is not only an old capital but also a modern city anxious to
develop a new culture and technology (ex. many Nobel Prize winners)
based on her precious inheritance. We hope that you yourselves will
enjoy the old Japanese capital, Kyoto.
We are looking forward to seeing all
of you at Kyoto.
